Weiner For Whatever
Congressman Anthony Weiner represents Rockaway and parts of Brooklyn in the U.S. House of Representatives, but his fame is spreading far and wide due to his courageous stands on health care for 9/11 workers and then the president’s health care reform act. When his latest video, his “Half-Time Report” about the debate to repeal the health care reform act, went viral on You-Tube, as did his last video chastising Congressman Peter King on his vote against the 9/11 bill after King sponsored the bill in the first place, Weiner became a player on the national stage. Look at his most recent You-Tube video and read the comments. “This guy is awesome.” “I wish he were my representative.” “You are observing an endangered species, a Democrat with a spine.” Those are just some of the comments. We have always liked Weiner for his candor and his desire to help his constituents in Rockaway. He is one of the few politicians who tells the straight truth – whether you like it or not. He has always played fair with this paper. And, he is right on the president’s health care reform act. He called the Republicans “a wholly-owned subsidiary of the health care industry,” and he is right. A repeal of the health care reform movement would devastate the economy and a great majority of the seniors who enter the dreaded “donut hole” each year, as well as those young people just finishing college, who can now remain on their parent’s health care policy until they reach the age of 26. Do not take those important factors lightly. They are of premier importance and repealing them might cost lives. We like Weiner for Representative for years to come or, if he should choose, perhaps for an office closer to home – like in Gracie Mansion.
