Rockaway Artist Plays Brooklyn Starbucks

Rockaway resident Arthur Skowron, a Polish-American artist, musician, poet and educator is currently exhibiting his work in the Starbucks coffee shop in Marine Park, Brooklyn.

Skowron studied at New York’s High School of Art and Design, graduating as valedictorian of art, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Queens College.

Skowron has displayed his work in 10 solo exhibits and more than four dozen group shows. He holds several art awards, including the Alexander Medal, the Ralph Sansone Scholarship, the PSC Scholarship, and Best Oil Painting/ Artsplash 09’.

Skowron is a member of the Emotionalism Art Group and the Rockaway Artists Alliance. He does painting, printmaking, and black and white photography.

When he is not busy making art, you can often find him on the beach, pursuing his other passion, fishing.

“In the series “From the Sea,” I tried to present a glimpse of the marine world: fish and the seascape. Living across the street from the beach, and often fishing, I am inspired to closely examine nature and present my interpretation of it in my art,” Skowron says.
