100 PCT CC Hosts 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off
The 100 Precinct Community Council Youth Committee and Knights of Columbus presented the 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off last Friday in Rockaway Beach. The three finalists were Dalton’s Seaside Grill, Last Stop Gourmet Shop and Knights of Columbus. The winner was the Knights of Columbus. The four judges were Police Officers from the 100 Precinct. The judges were unaware of the names of entries, since they chose by a numeric system. The Knights of Columbus hall was crowded with chili lovers of all ages. The cupcakes and brownies were a real hit with the youngsters. Hats off to the Knights of Columbus for their win and especially their chili cook Egil Hernandez. The Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, John Gillesspie, was present, along with Councilmen Eric Ulrich and Democratic District Leader Lew Simon, to accept the trophy. Proceeds will be shared by Saint Camillus Special Olympics and the Council Youth Committee. At the February 23 Council meeting a check will be given to Saint Camillus Special Olympics.
