The Inner Voice

Commentary by Marilyn Gelfand

One way to look at life is as a series of chapters in a book. As we deal with new situations, some good and some not so pleasant, it is important to keep in mind that here we are again at a new chapter. We don’t have all the answers as to what lies ahead when we might be a recipient of a lot of money, or get news of a terrible illness or lose a job or receive a new job or lose a loved one or share happiness when a new baby is born. It is all with an understanding that we cannot know what is ahead.

We have to remain open and flexible to be present in our awareness. If we are so focused on the future or on our emotions, we can forget to lock the door or miss a great opportunity. We can learn to live happily with trust in God without the answers. If we keep our hearts open, we will instinctively know what we need to decide as situations change and need to be addressed.
