Wait Until You Know
The initial reaction of too many commentators and editorial writers was to imagine the motivations the shooter might have had for committing his terrible crimes.
Not having any way to actually know what the real motivations were, they can only suppose based on their own fears, beliefs and prejudices. This is mere supposition and has no place in legitimate dialogue. The shooter was captured alive, he will be questioned, his background and records carefully researched and perhaps better understood.
The political blame assignment and editorial suppositories should be treated appropriately.
