Broad Channel Bits

By Liz Guarino

Last week the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge was featured on NY1 news. In the spot that was filmed last year, the public affairs division of the national park service sought public comment of ideas for future use of the parks. One man walking the refuge trails said he’d like to see a dog run in the park. In the fall there was a series of public hearings held at various locations for this purpose. Anyone who has an idea for park use is invited to share it with Public Affairs. Their telephone is 718- 354-4606. Their email address is: GATE_ Public_-Affairs@nps.gov and their mailing address is: Public Affairs Office; 210 New York Avenue; Staten Island, NY 10305. The wildlife refuge is at the north end of town. All of the Channel people have it in the front yard and probably have some good ideas about the future use of this property.
