Ernestine Burns, 55, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died December 15.
Burns was born on March 12, 1955. She was employed as a bank administrator and was a longtime member of the New Open Door Church of God in Brooklyn, New York.
Burns was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Burns.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Burns, of Far Rockaway; son, Alphonso Edmonds; sisters, Brenda Burns, Elaine Burns and Lisa Henry; grandsons, Arron and Aaron Edmonds; granddaughter, Ariel Edmonds; nieces, Latoya Jackson, Nubia Blakes, Jericka and Jalissa Henry, Jazzmine and Joi Stewart; nieces, Nasirra and Lyriq Fox; great-nephews, Kassius and Riot Fox; daughter-in-law, Oksana Edmonds; brother-in-law, Joseph Blakes; significant other, Raymond Luke; and a host of cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Disposition took place at St. Michael’s Crematory, East Elmhurst, New York.
