RTC Makes Holiday Festive For Addabbo FHC
Each year the Adabbo Family Health Center provides a special holiday treat for its youngest patients and their parents by throwing an annual holiday bash at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Rockaway Beach. Guests were treated to a wonderful holiday meal and a special visit from Santa, but many of the youngsters seem to look forward to the entertainment most of all. For the past six years, members
of the Rockaway Theatre Company have delighted guests with traditional Christmas music and a special performance by youngsters of the RTC Children’s Theatre Workshop.
On Thursday evening, December 16, a small troupe of entertainers from The Rockaway Theatre Company, consisting of Jenna Schmidt, Emma Baldwin, Michael Newman, Grace Rahali, Reilly Charles Michael and Marie Morley and Cathy Murfitt donned their Santa hats and braved the frigid temperatures in an effort to put holiday smiles on the faces of the children, many of whom, due to chronic illness, do not smile as often as they should.
“Nobody ought to be Alone on Christmas,” and “Feliz Navidad.” A highlight of the children’s program was the performance of “Someday at Christmas” a very meaningful ballad featuring the voices of by Michael Morley, Reilly Charles and Jenna Schmidt. Veteran RTC vocalist, Cathy Murfitt, always a crowd pleaser, closed the show with the winter favorite, “Let it Snow,” delighting the littlest audience members sprawled on the floor in front of the performance area by throwing huge snowballs out into the crowd. The joyous expressions on the faces of both children and adults was a clear indication that the RTC holiday show has certainly become a favorite tradition at Addabbo Family Health Center Holiday parties.
A spokesperson for the Health Center said that the staff is extremely grateful to the Rockaway Theatre Company for bringing their Christmas magic each year and making the holiday party so special for everyone.
