Jeremy Van Hoof tallied the game winner 1:02 into overtime to lift the first place Akwesasne Warriors, 2-1, over the New York Aviators in Federal Hockey League action.

An Aviator defensive breakdown in the neutral zone allowed the league’s top scorer, Pierre Dagenais, and Van Hoof to break in on a 2-on-1 rush. Dagenais slid it over to Van Hoof on the far side, which was then put home on the one-timer for Van Hoof’s first FHL goal of the year.

New York, though, broke the game open scoring just a minute into the second period, as John Goffredo tallied his 13th marker of the season. The Warriors, however, tied it up 8:46 later on Kyle Legace’s seventh goal on the campaign.

The final frame saw no goals go up on the scoreboard, even though New York threw 11 shots on Akwesasne goaltender David Plouffe.
