Mildred B. Williams
Mildred B. Williams, a 55-year Rockaway resident, died December 20.
Williams was born in North Adams, Massachusetts. She moved to Rockaway from Harlem, New York and was a teacher at P.S. 180. She was an active parishioner at First Congregational Church (Women in Action and Ladies Aid Society), active member of the Far Rockaway NAACP, Girl Scout Leader and active member of the PTA for P.S. 183.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Willliams; sons, Gordon and Edward Williams; daughters, Lynne Whelan (Washington State), Beverly Williams, Sue Whitstyne, Sharon Williams, Michele Williams and Brenda Elmore (Bucoe); brother, Quentin Green (California); sisters, Lois Nelson (North Adams, MA) and Margaret Fowler (Virginia); 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O’ Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. Visitation will take place at First Congregational Church, Rockaway Beach on Monday, December 27, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at the same site. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
