Registration For 2011 LL Season Now Open
Rockaway Little League has announced that registration is open for the 2011 baseball and softball seasons. They are urging parents: “DON’T wait until next year!” Fees will increase after January.
The web address for online registration is www.odgroup.com/rockawaylittle league. The Early Bird discount fees are $150 for one child, $250 for two children and $350 for three or more children.
Payment can be made via PayPal or major credit cards. Parents may also print the registration form and mail it in with a personal check or money order. In-person registration will be available in January.
About 800 boys and girls from Rockaway participate in Rockaway Little League. Since 1995, Rockaway Little League has played all its games at the complex it built in Fort Tilden in Gateway National Recreation Area. The league shares these fields with two travel teams from Brooklyn and local schools, including Scholars’ Academy.
Key dates for the 2011 season are set. Due to the lateness of Easter and Passover in 2011, the first games will be played the weekend of April 2 and the official Opening Day ceremony is planned for April 9. Player evaluations will be conducted the weekends of March 12 and 19.
The league draft for competitive divisions will occur March 24. Our players will march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade (March 5) and the Memorial Day parade (May 30).
Rockaway Little League hopes to expand its Challenger Division in 2011 after a successful inaugural season. The Challenger Division is for boys and girls of all ages with physical and mental challenges.
