Ohab Zedek Hosts Lecture Series
Congregation Ohab Zedek in Belle Harbor has announced a lecture series on Jewish-interest programs that will run over the next few weeks.
The three-week series, which will be held at the synagogue at 134-01 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, will discuss the historical perspectives and practical applications of modern day Kashrut. Kashrut pertains to dietary laws and restrictions as stipulated in the ancient traditions of the Torah. The series begins on Monday, December 20 at 8:00 p.m. with guest lecturer Rabbi Dovid Heber. Rabbi Heber, respected as a foremost expert in the field of kosher pharmaceuticals, nutriceuticals, and medications from the STARK, will address the topic, “A Discussion of Medication, Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements.” The following Monday, December 27, the series continues with the topic, “Your Right To Rely on a Kosher Certification” with guest speaker Rabbi Mordechai Frankel, director of STAR-K’s Institute of Halacha. The series concludes with Dr. Avram Pollak, who will discuss the historic perspective and modern day applications of Kosher wine.
Dr. Pollak, president of the STAR-K and a Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from City University of New York, will present.
All these lectures are of no cost and begin promptly at 8:00 p.m.
