Church Gives Thanks

Dear Editor,

The First Congregational Church of Rockaway Beach wishes to thank the merchants of the Rockaway Peninsula who graciously contributed raffle gifts to help make our recent Christmas Bazaar a great success! We encourage readers of The Wave to patronize “these generous businesses, including: Belle Harbor Steak House; Belle Harbor Cards & More; Brown’s Hardware; Danielle’s Rockaway Florist; Denis O’Connor Funeral Home; Elegante Pizza; Fashion Wave; Harbor Optics; Just Beautiful Unisex Hair Salon; Key Food; Last Stop Gourmet Shop; Madelaine’s Chocolates; Meserole Funeral Home; Mirkin Vision Care; Nick’s Service Station; On the Rocks Wines & Liquors; Rock Jetty Wines & Liquors Rockaway Perfume Store; RSC Restaurant (Rockaway Seafood Company); Station Liquors; Surfside Bagels; and The Wave.

First Congregational Church, formed in 1886, was one of the earliest houses of worship in the Rockaways. We are pleased to be celebrating our 125th Anniversary in 2011! An open and affirming member of the United Church of Christ, we are located at 320 Beach 94 Street, due east of the Cross Bay Bridge ramps. For further information about our church, call and ask for our Pastor, Rev. Joseph Medlin, at 718-634-4701, e-mail us at firstcongregational@earthlink.net, or join us for our upcoming Christmas Eve Candle-light Service featuring a live nativity pageant, to be held on Friday, December 24, starting at 9:30 p.m.
