Daniel Richard Keenan
Daniel Richard Keenan, 82, a former Rockaway resident, died November.
Keenan was born in 1928 and was raised in Rockaway Beach. He graduated from Far Rockaway High School and worked in the aviation industry for 50 years. He retired as a U.S. Army colonel after 22 years of service and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. Keenan also founded the Annandale and Fairfax Air Conditioning and Heating Company, which was later named Keenan Heating and Cooling. He was residing in Strasburg, Virginia at the time of his death.
Keenan was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Thomas Keenan; and five sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Fay; daughters, Coleen Joan Keenan of Rixeyville, Virginia and Theresa Ann Keenan Wilson of Gainesville, Florida; son, Daniel Michael Keenan of Annapolis, Maryland; stepsons, W. Anthony Ettare Jr. of Chantilly, Virginia and Eric Joseph of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and brother, Bernard Keenan of Rockaway Beach.
Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
