Go Stop & Shop

Dear Editor,

On reading this week’s issue of The Wave, there was an article on the first page, “Cops Dispel Stop & Shop Rumors.”

In my opinion, the rumors were probably started by a longtime west end, well established neighborhood supermarket because they did not like strong competition and it was hurting their pocketbook.

They thought they had a monopoly and I, for one, felt they thought they were doing you a big favor for allowing you to shop there.

Their cashiers and some other staff at the courtesy counter were obnoxious; and had a holier than thou attitude, all through the years.

I stopped shopping there long ago and travelled to the Stop & Shop in Inwood. The Inwood store and the Arverne store, including managers and clerks, are very helpful. Their shelves are well-stocked and their prices are right. Best of all no one walks around with a chip on their shoulder.

The store in Arverne is very safe with a guard in uniform in the store; on a nice day I walk there.

I will continue to shop there every week.

R. FREESE
