Appreciate Your Efforts

To the Editor,

While we appreciate your efforts to quiet the unfounded rumors about crimes directed at our customers, I am concerned that last week’s front page story in The Wave may have raised more questions than it answered. Stop & Shop is proud to be doing business in Arverne and the Rockaways.

The NYPD has made it clear that there have been no reports of any criminal activity at our store. Deputy Inspector Thomas Barrett, the commanding officer of the 100 Precinct, will discuss this in detail at the next meeting of the 100 Precinct Community Council meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. on December 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 333 Beach 90 Street.

We welcome all residents to attend the meeting and hear first hand from Deputy Inspector Barrett and those in his command that there is no truth to the talk on the street. I would also hope that The Wave will be able to cover the meeting and share with the larger community the efforts that Stop & Shop has undertaken to make our new Arverne store safe for our customers.
