PS/MS 105 Kids Care Promote Neighborhood Activities

The 105 Kids Care Club is a volunteer group formed by students, social studies teacher Thomas Krieger and Norma Allende, art teacher. The mission of 105 Kids Care Club is to develop compassion and social responsibility through hands-on service projects, and to inspire others by demonstrating how the power of one can impact the community and the world. 105 Kids Care Club is committed to promote activities that will build awareness and create resources to respond to local and global issues.

This year activities began with Cards With a Heart. Students created Thanksgiving cards for those serving the community: police, fire department, crossing guard, librarians, school aides, nurses and custodians received the handmade cards created by students from kindergarten, and first and second grades. Participants enjoyed the children’s performance under the direction of Lauren Harrison and Christine Quigley.

Middle School students created Christmas cards for the troops overseas in recognition of their dedication in protecting the country and the community.

The art room became the center of production when students used printmaking techniques to print their cards. They were eager to send their holiday wishes to local men and women serving in Afghanistan. The cards were delivered to Operation Ho Ho Ho, organized by the Breezy Point Volunteer Fire Department.
