St. Francis de Sales CYO Season In Full Swing

The St. Francis de Sales boys Subnovice Blue team completely shut down St. Patrick’s offense. Kyle Cornish and Michael D’Amico made steals at the top of the zone while Joe Featherston and Kyle Duffy stopped all penetration down the middle. Ian Byrne made big baskets while Cooper Nagle and Dillon Ostrander made nice passes.

St. Francis Pee Wee boys (blue) had a battle with St. Francis Pee Wee (gold) team. The game was a hard fought one with the Gold team having a lead going into the fourth quarter.

St. Francis (Blue) started to make a comeback that was led by Jack Casey, Dylan Abernethy and Jack Mullally. With less than two minutes to go and the game tied, both teams’ defenses were playing tough and not allowing any score. It looked as if the game was headed into overtime. St. Francis (blue) had the ball with 8 seconds to go. John Mullally, inbounding from half court, made a perfect pass to Jack Casey who made a strong move to the basket and scored the game-winning basket. Both teams played a great game.

SFDS Bantam Boys defeated Resurrection, 34-28. Mario Cimino led the St. Francis attack with 8 points. James Carlton added 6. However, Mario and James Carlton provided the defensive spark in the 4th quarter that made the difference in the game. Jack Watt was strong on the boards and added excellent passing in the SFDS attack.

SFDS Intermediate girls defeated Our Lady of Grace, 32-4.

The kitchen opened to great reviews. Can the Christmas Tournament be far behind? No.

Friday, December 17 will mark the start of this annual tradition. This year’s tournament will run through to championships on Sunday, January 2, 2011. More details to follow next week.
