RAA elections for members of the board of directors and for two of the officers will be held at the December 13 general meeting. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in sTudio 7 (building T-7) in Fort Tilden. Following this very important “company business” will be the annual holiday party, complete with artwork, live entertainment, food, desserts, liquid refreshments, the GRAB BAG and the warm camaraderie of the RAA (priceless). This is a potluck party, so your additions to the table(s) of treats will be much welcomed.

At the December 13 meeting, certain board directors will be running for reelection, in addition to several other candidates. Also on the ballot will be candidates for two of the officer positions on the board.

Remember that you must be a paid-up member of the RAA in order to be eligible to vote. You may join at the December 13 meeting, before the election.

A “Get to Know Your Candidates” is being emailed to members.

Each candidate running provides background information, interests and goals he or she sees for the future of RAA.

The next RAA Writers Group presentation takes place Sunday, December 12 in sTudio 7, 2-4 p.m. This will also be your last opportunity to see “Gifted,” RAA’s annual member holiday exhibit.

“RAA on Jamaica Bay,” curated by RAA President Geoff Rawling, will feature the work of 18 RAA artists, past and present, in a variety of mediums, interpreting and celebrating the natural beauty of Jamaica Bay and its surroundings. Sunday, December 5, from 12-4 p.m. attend a Meet the Artists reception at the visitor center of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Cross Bay Boulevard in Broad Channel.

The exhibit will be on view at the center from the end of November through the end of February. Participating artists are:
