Gateway Welcomes RAA Exhibit

Meet the artists of the Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA) at this informal event welcoming the “RAA On the Jamaica Bay” exhibit. The event is December 5 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Displayed at the Gateway National Recreation Area’s Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, this exhibit celebrates the bay through media from oil painting to wood sculpture.

Some works are abstract, while other pieces are more realistic, but all focus on Jamaica Bay. Included are photographs of Floyd Bennett Field and paintings of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge’s West Pond. The curator of the show, Geoff Rawling, says “this eclectic group of artists invites you to meet them on Sunday and to view the show until February 2011.”

This exhibit is held in the Jamaica Bay Unit, Gateway National Recreation Area, National Park Service and is in Queens on Cross Bay Boulevard. It is accessible by public transportation.
