Her name is Lisa George-Watson, but everyone calls her LisaG aka RockaZumbaWay. She lives in the Rockaway community and is the Crazee Zumba Lady you might see all over Rockaway doing Zumba! What is Zumba Fitness? The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and EASY-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. LisaG says, “Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve longterm benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, aweinspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!”
Watson’s mission is to help others to recognize and achieve their fitness goals.
She is a licensed Zumba Instructor, and holds all six certifications, teaching as many as six group exercise classes a week. “I LOVE Zumba Fitness! I enjoy teaching and training because it gives me an opportunity to do what I do best and that’s MOTIVATE, ENCOURAGE AND PUSH people toward their fitness goals,” she says. “I believe that you can achieve anything that you set your mind on and my job is to help you realize that! I not only teach but I also have TWO other full time jobs! Along with working as a Manager on Wall Street, I also have the lovely titles of WIFE AND MOM!”
Her passion for fitness has led her to start teaching in her own community. “Over the summer of 2010 I gave ‘Free’ Zumba Lessons at Beach 91 Street on the Boardwalk every night to introduce Zumba Fitness to the Rockaway community,” she says. “I volunteered at Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School to teach the scholars the Zumbatomics (kids) Program when they did not have a playground last year. I made their cafeteria our Zumba playground. The smiles on their faces daily to greet me when I showed up is PRICELESS!” This year she began her own Zumba Fitness Program at Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School. “Working with Principal Erika Wala has been a joy,” she says, and she is forever grateful to her for “allowing me to fulfill my mission of promoting Health and Fitness right here in my own Rockaway community where I live.” Currently, she runs $5 Zumba Fitness Classes for Adults in the evenings at PPA on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. This class created for the teachers and anyone who needs early class, and now Friday Night Zumba Jams at 7:30 p.m. Starting in January 2011 at Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School, she will be offering “Free” Zumbatomic lessons for the Scholars. This class will be open to the Scholars of PPA and their siblings.
“There will be HUGE ZUMBA FUNDRAISER and toy drive, that I’m teaching and hosting for the Scholars of Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School on FRIDAY, December 3, 2010,” she adds. “This Fundraiser is very special and dear to me and I ask everyone to please come out and support the event. All of the proceeds for this event will go back to the school for the Scholars’ needs. All Gifts will be distributed to the Scholars at PPA as well. If you would like to make a donation for this fundraiser, please make checks payable to Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School and in the Reference line add ZUMBA FUNDRAISER.
