SJEH Receives Pediatrics Playroom Renovation
The children at the Pediatrics Unit at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital have the N.Y. Patty Cruz Memorial Fund to thank for the bright and entertaining playroom renovation. The N.Y. Patty Cruz Memorial Fund arranged for colorful paintings on the walls, fresh new furniture and flooring, a flat screen television and a mobile Wii and television set that can be played at their bedsides.
“Thanks to the members of the N.Y. Patty Cruz Memorial Fund, our children have a beautiful new playroom and up-to-date equipment to play with,” said Allan Steinberg, MD, chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at St. John’s. “We are very grateful for their generosity and support for our patients,” he added.
The N.Y. Patty Cruz Memorial Fund is composed of motorcycle clubs from Queens and Rockaway. Their interest in raising awareness of sickle cell disease led them to the Pediatrics Department at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, which has an active Pediatric Practice and inpatient pediatric unit.
