Pee Wee Shamrocks Wins First Round Playoff Game

The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the BCAC Pee Wee Shamrocks were ready to take on Levittown Red Devils in the first round of the playoffs. The 70 degree weather in the middle of November was not the only strange occurrence that day.

The Shamrocks came out blazing – scoring on the opening drive of the game.

The offensive line led by Chris Kollmer, Juan Cuglietta, Robert Clark, Giancarlo Conti and Aaron Silva controlled the line of scrimmage and allowed for key runs made by Matty McDonagh and Mike Butkiewicz. On the final play of the drive, Liam Doda playing another phenomenal game, snapped the ball and handed it to Nicky Meehan who took it in for a Shamrock touchdown and their first lead of the season.

Although the score would remain the same for the next two quarters, the Pee Wees played an unbelievable defensive game. Conti made a huge hit to force a fumble, which Ryan Ehret recovered – Shamrock ball! The offense sputtered in the second half due to the number of penalties called against them, so the defense had to step it up a notch. Ryan Ehret, Ryan Hanning, Damian Stathis and Jack Tansey made huge tackles throughout the game.

Nick Rogers had a breakout game, both offensively and defensively. Carrying the ball for 8 carries and about 100 yards, Rogers capped off the game with a 60 yard run in the fourth quarter.

The defense held their ground on the final play of the game. A gang tackle made by Hanning, McDonagh, Butkiewicz and Tansey sacked the quarterback for a safety to secure the shutout and a win.

Anthony Fiorey, Vincent Nizzo, Mike Pierro and Joe Kazmuchuk were ready at a moment’s notice and cheered their team on from the sidelines. The Pee Wees will take on West Hempstead this Sunday for the second round of the playoffs.
