Margert Hosts Walk-In Foreclosure Clinic
This Friday and Saturday, November 19 and 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Margert Community Corporation will present a “walk-in” event to assist homeowners in obtaining loan modifications to save their homes. The purpose of the MCC Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Clinic is to provide homeowners in mortgage delinquency and/or foreclosure with immediate access to available resources and/or options.
Margert will provide a complete interview and screening process for the full three days, individual (one to one) and group counseling, plus their professional staff and industry partners (major lenders, attorneys, etc.) will prepare and submit Making Home Affordable Program (HAMP) loss mitigation requests to mortgage servicers that are signed up through the HOPE Loan Port. For Non HAMP/Non Hope Loan Port servicers they will also complete workout requests, but they ask participants to please be aware that there may be a delay in submitting those requests to the servicers.
Margert is presenting this Walk-in Clinic for homeowners facing foreclosure and will assist in creating an appropriate and immediate ACTION PLAN for the client to remedy his or her situation, and/or produce the most favorable outcome. Attendees will be allowed to spend NO more than two hours maximum at the clinic, so they ask participants to please come prepared. Following a brief A/V presentation, each attendee will be called to their initial interview and screening. Once the intake worker has verified and completed their document review and data entry, the attendee will be offered the opportunity to sit with a counselor for a full assessment and determination of eligibility for a loan modification. Requests for loan modification consideration and final submission of their completed package will be sent to their servicer. Also, there will be attorneys available to provide legal advice for homeowners who have received a summons and complaint or just need legal advice.
The clinic will be held at the Tessier Learning Center on Beach 38 Street in Far Rockaway. Please contact Julissa Arias at 718-471-3724 for more information and/or directions, or visit the Margert website at www.margert.org.
