Arverne Man Arrested For Bashing
An Arverne man once arraigned on weapons possession charges is back behind bars for allegedly hitting another man in the face with a wooden chair outside Carlton Manor, according to police.
Police had been trying to apprehend Deshawn Posey, 27, since the July 15 attack where he got into a dispute with a man around 9:00 p.m. near Beach 70 Street. According to court papers, the victim was allegedly grabbed by the throat and thrown to the ground by Posey. He and another apprehended suspect, Arnold McCray, allegedly struck the victim multiple times with the chair while kicking and punching him as well. The blows from the wooden folding chair caused the victim to lose several teeth and require 16 stitches in the back of his head and four more above one of his eyes.
Posey was arrested on October 24 and charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.
In November 2007, Posey was involved in another altercation with a man who stabbed him while he was sitting in his car on Beach 70 Street. According to court papers, Posey allegedly got out of his car and fired multiple gunshots at the man who stabbed him.
