James J. Boyhan
James J. Boyhan, a longtime Rockaway resident, died November 5.
Boyhan was born in Ireland and moved to Rockaway 50 years ago from Brooklyn, New York. He worked as a NYPD 1st grade detective for the 60th Precinct. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He belonged to the Police Holy Name, Emerald Society, Detective Endowment Association and the Police Benevolent Association.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Boyhan (nee O’Callaghan); daughter, Kerrie Florio (Chuck); sons, James (Rachelle) and Robert (Veronica); nine grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Greg, Kevin, Jimmy, Elizabeth, Chris, Celsi and Delia.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O’ Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Thomas More Church, Rockaway Point. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
