Costly Legislation For Businesses

Dear Editor,

New York City and State continue to create costly legislation that is causing small businesses to move or fold. Employees of those businesses that go under as a result of this stupid idea will not have to worry about paid sick days, as they will be collecting unemployment insurance.

Don’t council members, the editors of local papers and the electorate realize that the additional expense of mandated paid sick time will just be passed along to consumers in the form of higher prices? If the government decides that workers deserve 9 days of paid sick time a year, then let’s stop hiding the costs and just raise taxes to pay for it. This way people might better understand what ridiculous regulations like this are costing them.
