RAA Halloween Spectacular A ‘Howling Success’
Something frightfully fantastic and fun floated over Fort Tilden as the Rockaway Artists Alliance opened the doors to its Grimm & Scary Tales interactive Halloween Extravaganza. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Halloween weekend over 1,500 young and old brave souls followed ghoulish guides through a winding imagination filled haunted maze constructed entirely in RAA’s sTudio7 Gallery. The annual event was brought to life with lights, sound, special effects, music, stagecraft, costumed performers, unseen helpers and even (mostly) live outdoor musicians. Themed along familiar fairy tales with a twist, visitors encountered Old Mother Hubbard’s Shoe, an eerie Ginger Bread house, a hungry giant Crow, a smoky and spooky Forbidden Forest and other surprises. They also met Little Bo Creep, the Two Little Pigs, a sinister Cinderella, Little Dead Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.
Screams of delight and fright filled the night at one of the most enjoyed RAA events of its kind. As one out of breath guest put it, “RAA’s Halloween rocked!” (Photo by Dan Guarino)
