Xavier Freshman Shut Out Hayes To Stay Undefeated

The stage is set for the Xavier High School freshman football team to finish off the 2010 season as undefeated city champions this Friday, November 5 at Aviator Field at 7 p.m.

In Xavier history no freshman football team has been undefeated so the excitement mounts as Breezy Point resident Head Coach John Kelly’s Knights prepare for rival Fordam Prep this week. The freshmen are coming off their seventh win of the season with a shutout victory over Cardinal Hayes, 36-0. This was the team’s fourth shutout win of the season.

Quarterback John Strehl has been superb all season and did not disappoint connecting on 6 out of 8 passes and two touchdown passes to Kevin Crockett and Dennis Barnes.

Running back Trey Solomon has been unstoppable as he finished off the game with 3 touchdowns. Throughout the season the team has gotten big plays and great games from many of the players on the freshman roster.

The team invites the public to be a part of Xavier freshman football history on Friday night, November 5, under the lights at Aviator Field at 7 p.m.

Kudos goes to Hurricane Legionnaires Head Coach Brian Duggan

Breezy Point) and Coach Fred Delosrios (Belle Harbor) in their win over the first place Giants Sunday at Marine Park.

They coached John Strehl, Dennis Barnes and Kevin Crockett to two undefeated seasons with the Legion in 2007 and 2008.
