First Congregational Thank You

Dear Editor,

First Congregational Church of Rockaway Beach wishes to gratefully acknowledge a number of local businesses, organizations, individuals and elected officials who generously contributed items for recent charitable events and fundraisers at the church. Many members of the community donated prom dresses, school supplies and backpacks, which were collected and delivered to the students of PS/MS 183 of Beach 79 Street. The 100 Precinct Community Council (Danny Ruscillo, president), and many residents of the community regularly contribute to our food pantry.

George A. Muller & Son of Melville, New York, Rockaway’s long-time greenmarket vendor, provided pumpkins at below cost for our children’s Halloween party on October 23, and Holland Seaside Community Association (chaired by Karen Traynor), Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, City Councilman Eric Ulrich, McDonald’s Restaurant of Rockaway Beach, Madelaine Chocolate Novelties, and Surfside Bagels (managed by Tim Keenan, Scott Edwards and Brenda Boden), also helped make the Halloween party a huge success.

We also wish to thank the proprietors of MC Hookups, party suppliers located next to the firehouse in Rockaway Beach, who donated children’s toys and glow bracelets for our Memorial Day dance and our American Cancer Society Relay for Life team. All of you help to make the peninsula a kinder and gentler place!
