Historical Views of the Rockaways

A Rockaway Beach blast from the past...April...1947
From The Rockaway Museum Commentary by Emil Lucev, Curator Dedicated To The Memory Of Leon S. Locke

This week’s blast from Rockaway’s past features the Crown Appliance store, which was on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, near Beach 82 Street. I can just hear all the antique stove collectors saying…Wow! Appliance and repairs firms were once plentiful along Rockaway Beach Boulevard, as well as Central Avenue and Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway, and you didn’t have to wait forever and a day to get service or repair.
