BCAC Senior Shamrocks Defense Seals Road Win
The Broad Channel Senior Shamrock Football Team traveled out to Hempstead last Friday night and pick-ed up a win to improve their record to 4-2.
The big offensive line of Brandon Dell, Steve Ambrosino, Bryan Collado, James Marotta and Elijah Dorta would open the middle of the field, allowing Tom Kelly to score twice in the first quarter on runs of 6 and 29 yards. Extra points were added on runs by Chris Manfre and Andrew Conklin for a 14-0 first quarter lead.
The hard hitting Shamrock defense led by Paul Yodice along with Kevin Doherty, Vincent Finizio, Jeremiah Jones, James Lee, Marco Minichino, Devon Rodriguez and Zach Warner would hold Hempstead scoreless for a 14-0 halftime lead.
In the third quarter the O line would once again open the middle of the field for a 40-yard touchdown run by Tom Kelly. Hempstead would not go down without a fight and put seven points up in the third quarter.
The Shamrock defense would be tested several times by Hempstead in the fourth quarter. What looked like a sure 65-yard touchdown run along the sideline was cut down by BCAC middle linebacker Tom Kelly, who took a great angle and brought the Hempstead runner down on the 15-yard line.
The defense then tightened up and the offense would take over from Hempstead on downs sealing off the 20-7 Shamrock win. Injured Shamrock Tim Panetta was on the sideline to support his teammates.
The BCAC Senior Shamrocks next game is away on October 23 in Copiague at 8 p.m. On Saturday, October 30, the senior team will be home for their final regular season game against West Babylon at 6 p.m.
