Blessed Trinity Team Loses First Game In Great Fight
The Blessed Trinity First Grade boys soccer team went to Fort Tilden to take on their archrival St. Francis de Sales 2 last Sunday morning. The boys put up one great battle.
In the first half Patrick Kelly played an excellent game in goal and there was great effort on defense by Owen Ryan, Gabriel and Christopher Tennyson. St. Francis carried the play in the first half but the defense played well and weathered the storm.
In the second half Jack Ryan played a great game in goal. St. Francis de Sales scored early in the half to take a 1-0 lead. But Ed Coyne scored his sixth goal of the year to tie the game 1-1.
Unfortunately, St. Francis scored just before regulation time ran out to give them the 2-1 win.
Sean Hanley, Bobby Benoit, Tommy Davey, and Conor Regan did a great job on defense. Danny O’Malley, TJ McElhinney, James Galligan, James Wageman and Brian Yorke did a great job throughout the game.
Shout outs to Sean Hanley, Bobby Benoit, Patrick Kelly, Conor Regan, Danny O’Malley, TJ McElhinney, Jack Galligan, James Wageman, and Brian York who all contributed to the great effort.
Although the boys lost they showed great sportsmanship in the loss and are ready to re-group against St. Gregory’s at Roxbury at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 16. Then they go on to play the next day against St. Anastasia at 4:45 p.m.
Blessed Trinity asks the community to come out in a show of support.
