Scholars Academy Volleyball, Bowling Start PSAL Campaigns
The Scholars’ Academy girls volleyball team is back, starting off on the same note as they left off on last year. The girls, currently at 4 wins and 1 loss, are determined to make it to the championships.
The game on October 5 at Springfield Gardens was the biggest nail biter yet. The team ended the first game strongly, with a score of 25-20. Despite starting off rough in the beginning of the second game, Nicole Glaz kept the spirit up as the captain on the court. She contributed to the team’s success, with 8 kills, 4 digs, and 3 aces.
A senior at the Scholars’ Academy, Miranda Harding finished off with 10 service points, 8 aces, and 8 assists. After a very close game that had the audience and team at the edge of their seats, the girls successfully ended the game with a score of 28-26.
Scholars’ Academy bowling team is off to a very respectable start for their inaugural season. The team has collected two nail biting victories by a margin of less than 5 pins each. “Having several of our match’s coming right down to the last two bowlers has been amazing to watch,“ Coach Ben Rosenthal said. The team currently has two wins and three loses, with eleven matches ahead of them. Scholars’ plays its games at Gil Hodges Lanes.
“We are a young team with a lot of potential, and there is still a lot of the season left to show what we are made of,” Rosenthal said.
