The Monahan Tournament

Dear Editor,

The 11th Annual John J. Monahan Softball Tournament was held in Broad Channel on September 25. The tournament was a great success, with ten teams showing up ready to play ball. There were lots of exciting and nail biting games.

Congrats to the United Nations Team for their great championship run! Timmy Cash was awarded the MVP for his outstanding play. The Roxbury Misfits Team also had a great run coming in 2nd place, and John Conroy was honored with the Golden Glove. Thanks to all the teams for coming out to play including The Mayor’s Team, Big Tom’s Brew Crew, The Goon Squad, Q14, The Fat Cats, Knights for the Cure, Jack’s Boys and the Mudsharks.

This year a plaque was given to Eugene Gutierri in appreciation for starting this tournament 11 years ago. He continues to be a vital part of the BCAC organization, so thanks again Gene for your dedication and hard work.

Thanks to all our local businesses who sponsored signs: Channel Oil, JRS Trucking, Tommy’s Pizza, Call-AHead Corp, Century 21 on the Bay – Margaret Howard, The Wave, The Ruffle Bar, Grassy Point, The Irish Circle Tavern, Sports Depot, It’s All Good Tees, Pat Hanning Insurance, Erich Ulrich, Bob Turner, Rock And Roll Bagel, Shannon Roesch, The Wharf, Bulloch’s Service Station. We also sold family sponsorships as well and thank you to all of the families that sponsored the tournament.

A special thanks to Rob Pisani from the All American Deli and The Bayview Restaurant for sponsoring the jackets for the champions of the tournament.

All of our supporters helped in making for a successful tournament that raised for the club $4025 for the day. It was a great day for softball! I hope that all who were there had a nice day. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

On behalf of the BCAC, thank you to all who came out and showed their support for the club!!
