The Peninsula Hospital Center Auxiliary received an introduction to Peninsula Hospital Center’s new Director of the Emergency Department at its monthly luncheon meeting on the first Tuesday of October. Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Robert S. Helman, M.D. spoke about his educational background and his extensive experience in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Helman also spoke about some of his ideas to improve upon what he calls “an already excellent department of emergency medicine” which include expanding on the newly introduced and innovative FastTrak services. A very interesting question and answer period followed Dr. Helman’s presentation during which topics such as the latest protocols for emergency treatment for heart attacks and stroke were addressed.

PHC Auxiliary meetings are always open to anyone wanting to join the group on the first Tuesday of every month in the Meditation Room of the Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. Interesting presentations are made each month to acquaint the Auxiliary members with new staff members as well as the Hospital Center’s programs and services.
