FDNY Emerald Society Honors Kelly
The New York City Fire Department Emerald Society has chosen Rockaway Park resident John T. Kelly as one of its Irishmen of the Year. The award will be presented to the Dayton Towers resident at the organization’s annual Anniversary Dinner Dance to be held at Antun’s in Queens Village on November 5. Kelly first entered the FDNY in 1960, moving up the ranks until he retired as a battalion chief in 1998. He has been a member of the Emerald Society Pipes and Drums since 1964.
