Arrested in Jersey City After Threats

A Far Rockaway man was arrested in Jersey City after he threatened a store owner with a gun last week, according to police and published reports.

Darryl Pelote, 22, of Far Rockaway, was arrested in Jersey City at around 9:30 p.m. on September 22, at the intersection of Lexington and West Side Avenues and was charged with making terroristic threats. The incident took place nine blocks away at West Side and Gautier Avenues, police said.

According to the store owner, she was closing and getting ready to go home when Pelote allegedly came in and said, “You know what I’m going to do,” while holding his waistband attempting to indicate he had a gun. Police got a brief description of Pelote and began chasing him after a short search of the area. Police found no gun, officials said, and a subsequent search of the crime scene produced nothing as well.
