BCAC Peanut Shamrocks Win Again

The BCAC Peanut Shamrocks increased their record to 2-1 last Saturday evening with a 24-12 win against the Seaford Broncos.

Many of the Peanuts napped in their cars on the long ride to Seaford, and this strategy paid off. They started with a strong defensive effort led by Philip Stewart, Frankie Sinisgalli, Matt Boyland, Jack Tephly and Dyland Grosseto.

BCAC’s first possession led to a beautiful 40-yard touchdown run by Matt Steiner, with key blocks by James Enz and Mike Verni. John Kelly soon ran for another long touchdown, and Brendan Jones for a third, as the Peanuts appeared to be enjoying a rout.

Despite the stout defense provided by Grosseto, Boyland and the boys in green, the Broncos sneaked in a touchdown before the half to cut the score to 18-6. Coach Mike, and plenty of Gatorade, readied the Shamrocks for the second half. However, the Broncos’ defense had come to life, and though QB Bobby Sacco, Logan Hilgendorf and Parker Karinsky each had strong runs, they were stopped before reaching the end zone. The Broncos then punched in another touchdown, as they attempted to close the gap.

Nevertheless, this second score would prove to be the last for Seaford, as it fired up the Shamrock defense. For the remainder of the half, Jones, Steiner, Armour and Kelly led a defense to be reckoned with, and the Broncos were unable to make another first down.

On the Shamrocks’ last possession, Brendan Armor ended the game as it began, with a 40-yard touchdown, right before the final whistle blew. The Shamrocks headed home, celebrating their second win in a row.

Come and cheer on the Shamrock Peanuts in their next home game at BCAC Field against Plainedge on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
