An Important Stroll Across The Bridge
Once again it comes down to community pride and community cohesiveness. On Tuesday, October 5 at 7 p.m., Democratic District Leader Lew Simon will lead Rockaway and Broad Channel residents on a protest march across the Cross Bay Bridge, a protest that he hopes will put an end to the renewal of the tolls for local residents after a decade of free trips across the intra-community bridge. It is time to stand up for Rockaway. Should only a few show up for the protest, the city will have a valid reason to say that nobody cares and that Rockaway residents do not support their own important issues. Should thousands show up, the city will have no choice but to find a way to mollify the protestors. It is as simple as that. Show up at McDonald’s at the foot of the bridge on October 5. Bring a sign that shows your anger with the renewed tolls. Get involved.
