Despite Loss, Midget Shamrocks Keep Fighting

The BCAC Midget Shamrocks took to the field this past Sunday to face Oyster Bay in their second game of the year. The Mighty Green Machine operated as a well oiled machine that started with the offensive line.

The offensive line was anchored by the center Thomas Houck, guards Michael O’Connell and Sebastian Frieberg, tackles Matt McCabe and Johnny Wiess. Along with tight ends James Tuohey and Jack Collins, the line was responsible for big plays for the offense. Jack Allen, Timmy McCabe and Michael Henglein came up with a total of 63 yards rushing. The big highlight came when Bryan Bostwick got the Shamrocks’ first touchdown of the year. He also had 65 yards rushing.

The defense helped out in the effort, as well. Key tackles were made by Peter Meehan, Dillon Ostrander, Danny Clark, Joey Iannello, Luke Jackowski, Jahneek Miller, Andrew Visconti, Jack Ward and Tyler Strika. When the final whistle blew the Shamrocks were down 20-6.

Coach Gene pulled the young warriors aside and reminded them that this is only the second game and there was a lot to build on.

Word has it that coach Kenny stayed up all night Sunday reviewing game film and coming up with some new defensive strategies to prepare for next week’s game.

The Midget Shamrock’s game has been moved up next Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. They will take to the road to face Hempstead.

The Shamrocks would like to announce that the fan of the week is Tommy “Postal” McCabe. He was the loudest one in the stands – maybe because the Dolphins are 2-0.
