Pheffer Sets Local Shredding Events

Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer recently announced her partnership with the New York State Consumer Protection Board and Shred-It in providing free public shredding to the residents of the 23rd Assembly District.

One of the most common methods of identity theft, “dumpster diving”, is the process of looking through trash for private information that can be harvested and used by unauthorized individuals. Scammers go through trash to obtain copies of checks, credit card or bank statements, medical records or similar type documents and use the personal information to steal people’s identity.

The Rockaway event sponsored by Assemblywoman Pheffer will be held on September 30 at Beach 94 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.

Documents will be shreded in confidentiality, Pheffer promises.
