William M. Erhard

FDNY Deputy Chief

William M. Erhard, a 40-year Rockaway resident, died September 13.

Erhard was born in Brooklyn, New York and worked as a deputy chief for the FDNY. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959 and belonged to the FDNY Holy Name Society.

Erhard was preceded in death by his brother, Robert; sisters, Audrey Record, Lorraine McKeon and Beatrice Silk.

He is survived by his wife, Diane M. (nee Lucke); sons, Michael (Abbe)and William (Karen); daughters, Mary Moran (Frank), Regina Carey (Craig), Ann Coughlin (Michael) and Kristin Youngberg (Jason); 23 grandchildren, C.J., Kristie, Jake, Julia, Matthew, Frankie, Dylan, Luke, Owen, Andrew, Kevin, Zach, Liam, Noelle, Kelly, Diane, Mary, Max, Ian, Megan, Nicholas, Michael and Madeline.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O’ Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor. Disposition remained private.
