Solemn Ceremonies Mark 9-11 Anniversary At Tribute Park

The ninth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, was held last Saturday at Tribute Park on Beach Channel Drive at Beach 116 Street. There were two ceremonies that day, the first at 8:46 a.m. and the second at 7 p.m. At the first ceremony, a red rose was placed on the central compass rose for each of the locals who lost their lives that day. Their names were read and an American Flag was raised to half-staff. In the evening, the flag was lowered and taps was played.
