PHC Auxiliary Welcomes Newcomers
Peninsula Hospital Center’s Auxiliary met for its monthly lunch on Tuesday, September 8, welcomed several newcomers to the group and heard a very informative presentation by Peter A. Galvin, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at the Hospital Center. Dr. Galvin spoke about his responsibilities at the Hospital Center and introduced his associate in his private practice, Michael Salamatbad, D.O., a physician who recently graduated from the Hospital Center’s Family Practice Residency Program. “I am so pleased to have Dr. Salamatbad working with me,” says Dr. Galvin. “He is able to make house calls as well - something very much appreciated by our patients.” The Medical Education Department at PHC has as its unofficial motto, “Train and Retain” and Dr. Salamatbad is a perfect example of how the PHC Medical Education Department works with private physicians serving the community to accomplish just that. Dr. Galvin also spoke about the various new and established programs and services at the Hospital Center followed by a lively question and answer period.
The Hospital Center’s Auxiliary has raised funds this year which enabled it to give generously to the Butterflies by the Sea, Eisenstadt Hospice Care Unit, the Dental Department and the Emergency Department. The majority of funds are raised through an annual raffle, but other activities such as Bazaars, Day at the Races along with a variety of interesting trips and social activities are a part of their annual program. The Auxiliary meets on the first Tuesday of each month for lunch in the Meditation Room of Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. Its membership is growing steadily and new members are always welcomed!
