Edward Hoggard, 81, a longtime Rockaway resident, died August 18.
Hoggard was born on July 21, 1929 in Norfolk, Virginia and later moved to Rockaway. He worked for the New York City Transit Authority.
Hoggard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosetta; and daughters, Linda, Brenda and Joyce.
He is survived by his daughters, Nduka, Karen, Gail, Patricia, Tracy and Kim; grandchildren, Keith, Rahsaan, Ikeema, Reggie, Laquan, Iobey, Shawntae, Wayne, Tia, Iyauna, Shadia and Khalee; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Alvin Hoggard of Chesapeake, Virginia; sister Helen Hoggard of Norfolk, Virginia; partner, Virginia Thomas of Brooklyn, New York; sisters-in-law, Patricia Hoggard of New York, Pearl Shell of Brooklyn, New York, Olivia Thomas of Flint, Michigan and Martha Hoggard of Chesapeake, Virginia; son-in-law, Daniel Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Plainlawn Cemetery, Hicksville, New York.
