McLaughlin Completes Legal Fellowship
Siena College student, Tara Mc- Laughlin, of Rockaway Point, class of 2011, spent part of her summer experiencing firsthand the way the legal system works pertaining to domestic violence cases. McLaughlin studied at the Domestic Violence Institute at Northeastern University School of Law as part of the Siena College Summer Legal Fellows program. She took part in a hearing where she directly interacted with clients.
“My experience working at the Northeastern School of Law Domestic Violence Institute as a Domestic Violence Advocate was an unbelievable learning opportunity,” McLaughlin said.
The Legal Fellows program at Siena College allows students to work under the direct supervision of a law school professor while undertaking original legal research with second and thirdyear law students. The legal research that Siena’s students work on may be published by the respective law school sponsor and could provide the basis for legal action in state and federal jurisdictions.
