Anger Seems Misdirected

Dear Editor,

Congressman Weiner has used the 9/11 Health Care Bill to promote political division and provide political cover for his Democratic party under a smokescreen of feigned outrage and staged theatrics. This is the same Mr. Weiner that helped force through a health care bill along strict party lines who is now unable to pass a needed and justified bill to provide help for the 9/11 volunteers, police and firefighters.

It only takes a 50% majority to pass usual legislation but for partisan political reasons, the majority party with an overwhelming 40+ seat advantage chose to insist on a 2/3 vote to pass this legislation. Why, Congressman Weiner? Your righteous anger seems misdirected.

As Congressman King said, “If you really wanted this bill to pass, it was within your power to do so.” It is clear to anyone interested enough to check the facts that Mr. King is right and Mr. Weiner has distorted the facts and contrived a situation to protect his party and his dubious position with a hypocritical and cynical performance at the expense of the very people he is presumed to represent.
