Janis Paine Ward
Janis Paine Ward, 93 died at her Lawrence, Long Island home on August 14.
Ward was raised in Far Rockaway and lived in that community for the first 42 years of her life.
Ward was the senior manager for the First Presbyterian Russell Sage Memorial Church in Far Rockaway. She was also a longtime volunteer at the South Nassau Community Hospital in Oceanside, an honorary trustee of the Rock Hall Museum in Lawrence, the Rockaway Hunting Club and the Lawrence Garden Club. She was also an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Ward, the owner of the Paine-Ward Insurance Company in Far Rockaway and the board chairman of the former Peninsula National Bank.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris Lawson (Michael) of Phoenix, Arizona and Karen Miller (Don) of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Cremation took place privately in accordance with her wishes, overseen by the Meserole Funeral Home in Inwood. Her remains will be interred in the family plot at Trinity Churchyard, Hewlett, Long Island.
