Pre-Teen Busted In Drug Sweep
The local grade-schooler, whose name was not released because of her age, sold the drugs to an undercover narcotics unit police officer, sources said.
“She does not look 12,” NYPD Inspector Michael Bryan told New York Post reporter Kirsten Fleming. “We were very shocked to find out her age.”
In addition to the child, authorities collared 42 other people, most with long rap sheets and one who is awaiting trial on a murder charge.
The names of those arrested were not available at press time because they were still waiting arraignment at Queens Criminal Court on Thursday.
The busts were part of a daylong raid targeting several areas in Rockaway, including a number of apartment units at the sprawling Ocean Bay Houses complex and others at Ocean Village Apartments on Beach 57 Street.
In addition, three homes on Beach Channel Drive between Beach 51 Street and Beach 58 Street were hit in the early morning raids.
Authorities seized two Mercedes- Benzes, one BMW, $14,000 in cash, 11 pounds of marijuana and a quantity of crack in the raids.
During the investigation, which began in March, undercover detectives bought nine pounds of marijuana, 180 oxycodone pills and undisclosed amounts of heroin, Percocet and crack, officials said. The probe was conducted by the NYPD and Queens District Attorney’s Office.
Police said that most of those arrested in the raids had prior arrests for crimes ranging from murder and narcotics possession to weapons possession.
